Christmas Tree Lights Add A Special Glow To The Season
You know the season has begun when you unpack the Christmas tree lights and ensue in your annual fight with the tangles! This isn’t really necessary if you take the time this year to organize and prepare your plan ahead of time.
First you’re going to decide the type of tree you will be using. There are artificial and natural trees. Either way, you have to get those Christmas tree lights on first.
Unpack lights that you have stored away and assess what you have. Test all of your lights and discard old lights that no longer work or are damaged in any way.
Next, figure out how many Christmas tree lights you’ll need for YOUR tree. I have found two rules to go by…..take the height of your tree X width of your tree X 3 and that equals the amount of lights you’ll need. The other is to use Three sets of lights for every One foot of tree.
Either will do. Of course, you can increase or decrease this number however you see fit.
If you buy new lights, check if they working by plugging them in before your take them out of the package. This will save you headaches if you have to return them.
Now you are ready to hang those lights. Experts are saying it is best to hang lights in an up-and-down pattern as opposed to a wrapping around motion. Whichever you do, start your lights at the top.
A few more tips…
Some artificial trees are sold pre-lit. Mix mini white lights with novelty or big lights for a cool effect. And always unplug your lights before leaving home or going to bed.
