How To Tips For Beautiful Christmas Wreaths

Christmas Wreaths hung on the front door welcome friends and family every time they come into the house.
Christmas wreaths are not only great on the front door; they look fabulous on a mantel, over a doorway or on any wall in your home. Greens are a classic material to make wreaths.

Here are some tips to keep the greenery in your wreath fresh:

  • Choose long-needle pines (they’re longer lasting)
  • Condition your greenery before using. Cut the ends of stems on an angle and crush with a hammer. Soak in room temperature water for a few hours.
  • Spritz daily with water

Try using these items in your green wreath:

  • Berries
  • Apples
  • Any Fruit
  • Pine Cones
  • Flowers (artificial or dried)
  • Toys
  • Trinkets
  • Ribbons
  • Ornaments
  • Lights
  • Jingle Bells
  • Small Gift Wrapped Boxes
  • Bunches of Herbs
  • Raffia
  • Candy Canes (or any candy)

To make a wreath with greens:

Group materials in bunches of 5 to 7 stems at a time. Wire it to a metal wreath form. Cover the ends of each bunch with the next bunch. Wire or hot glue decorations to the wreath.

Don’t limit your imagination to using just greenery for your wreaths.

Try some of these materials without greenery:

  • Candy Canes
  • Bells
  • Twigs
  • Grapevines with Lights
  • Poinsettias on a Styrofoam Form
  • Leaves Painted Silver, Gold or White
  • Feathers

Use anything that suits your fancy. For outside wreaths, keep in mind to use items that can withstand the weather.
